Home Visits
Work one on one with a parent educator
The Best Start Program believes in supporting families through the everyday chaos of raising small children as well as through more challenging events in life. In order to enroll in the home visiting aspect of the program, a family must come in for a screening to determine if their family is eligible. If the family is determined eligible, they will receive two home visits a month from one of our parent educator professionals. You will be provided with information regarding child development as well as referrals for resources that may benefit your family. Each family creates an Individual Family Support Plan, which consists of goals the family will work toward with support from the parent educator. You will also be able to participate in free field trips around the Chicagoland area. If your family does not qualify for the program, you are still welcome to participate in any parent workshop or playgroup, and bring friends!
Playgroups
Come join us for some fun!
Best Start Playgroups are free for anyone to attend. Come and enjoy different themed playgroups with your young child. These groups help develop social, language, fine motor and gross motor skills among young children and allow parents the opportunity to meet other parents from the area. Examples of playgroups include: Messy play: develops hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, creativity, communication, explore shapes and sizes, building independence through choice, teaches cause and effect and much more! Painting: fine motor, social skills, creativity, concepts such as colors and size Gross Motor: teaches independence, confidence, healthy exercise, coordination Family Craft Night: fun for the whole family Blocks: learn about language, motor skills, sizes, shapes creativity
Parent Breakfast Club
Connect with other parents/caregivers in the community
Parent Breakfast Club is a great opportunity to meet other parents and learn about parenting or lifestyle topics. These groups are offered about once a month, typically at 9:30am. If you are interested in attending these before joining the program, please email beststart@msd143.biz for information about upcoming workshops.
