Have Questions? You are not alone!
Here are some of the most common things families ask us about Best Start—and our simple answers. If you ever wonder about something we haven’t covered here, just give us a call. We’re happy to help!
Are there any fees to join Best Start?
Nope! Best Start is completely FREE—there’s no cost to enroll your child.
How do I enroll in Best Start?
Just give us a call at 708-385-4546 to set up a screening. Be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate and proof of income.
How often will you come to my home?
We visit every other week, and each visit usually lasts about an hour.
What happens when my child turns 3 years old?
About six months before your child’s 3rd birthday, we’ll help you explore preschool and childcare options so the transition feels smooth and supported.
Are home visitors therapists?
No, we’re not therapists. Instead, we focus on building parent–child connections, sharing ideas and resources, and walking alongside you through the ups and downs of parenting.
Do home visitors work directly with my child?
Our main role is to support you as the parent. We’ll give you tools and encouragement so you feel confident helping your child learn and grow.
What are group events?
Group events are a fun way for little ones to play with other kids their age, while parents get a chance to meet, connect, and share with one another.
Do I need to worry about what my house looks like?
Not at all! Home visitors aren’t there to judge—we care about supporting you and your child, not how your home looks.
Remember, you don’t have to do this alone—Best Start is here to support you and your family every step of the way.
